So yesterday, I fished Willow Creek thinking it was Gilita Creek. Drove to the Catwalk Recreation Area and determined that I could not complete the challenge there due to physical limitations. Giving up I drove to Arizona to stay at a casino and watch the 49ers game on Sunday. Choosing the closest casino I drove for 1.5 hours and stopped for gas. Using the Internet I searched for casinos that had poker rooms. The closest one with a poker room (Hon-Dah) was now an extra hour away as it was more northernly than the one I started for. Of course, I changed direction and headed towards the poker roomed casino.
Word of advice. Do Not Drive Arizona Mountain Roads At Night. Fifty mile stretches of winding roads, few reflectors on the sides, none on the road, with speed zones of 35 for most of the trip. Dark, twisty roads with little information on where the next turn will be nor in which direction. I survived but it was long and not enjoyable, and at times I could not see the road turns. Not a lot of fun.
I get to the casino in Pinetop. Two full blackjack tables at $15 minimum (too high for me), two tables in a poker tournament, with nobody signed up for a live poker game after the tournament. I lost 20 in a video poker machine, drove to the nearest Walmart. Spent the night in the parking lot (with permission), and hope I can find a good sports bar and grill to watch the 9’ers tomorrow.
