The first hour of the gravel road to the town of Jarbidge is really a treat. One can do 45 on it comfortably, but not suggested. After an hour the road is still good, but gravelly and 20 mph is safe, sort of. However, the scenery was Spectacular.
The last half of the road was a tough travel. The check engine light was still on. The van was shaking apart from the rough road. And the stress on the van caused the door locks to click on and off continuously for 30 minutes (Internet leads to a bad relay located on the passenger’s side).
I then decided to pretend I was a photographer and take a picture of this stunning tree (stunning to me)
The drive was frustrating, trying to stay on the road, keep the van intact, ignore the clacking of the on/off locking mechanism madness, while viewing the beauty of the area. I kept imagining winning the lotto, buying 100 acres of desert, and setting up IR wielding drones to patrol 24 hours to identify all animal life forms on the plot. You might want to go to the Bahamas with your money. I want to buy some of Nevada.
I did make it into Jarbidge eventually. It is a quaint little town, with no wifi, and has it’s charm…..in the summer. It must be miserable in the winter, but that is just my opinion.
There are beautiful photos of Jarbidge on the Internet. However, I came here to fish for Bull Trout and I’m here now to complete this part of the Challenge (I’m so naïve).
The rest of the day is covered in Day 2B.
