I got an early start for me at 9:00 AM. However, I had to stop by Tracy’s Auto Repair in Lewiston as I had a check-engine-light on and Tracy is an awesome mechanic. I’ve been getting thrown codes whenever the van was powering up a hill. The code referred to low air flow. Tracy did his magic, reset the code, and asked me to drive it around to check. I trust Tracy so I headed to Redding, did grocery shopping, and then hit the road to Reno, then to Winnemucca, and then to Elko, Nevada.
The van powered up hills with no problems or thrown codes. And then, on the flats of Nevada, after 180 miles on the road……….Check Engine Light Activated. It didn’t go off. It hasn’t gone off after two days. AArrgghh.
A smudged windshield, boring road, and a lit check engine light (not shown), was my life for today. I drove more than 500 miles to Elko, and it was boring. Although it is fun to drive 80 on the highways, legally, I was exhausted at 7:00 PM when I got into Elko. I needed to rest, so what would be better than hitting a casino? I lost $20 in blackjack, tipped $10, for an entertainment value of -$30. Oh Well.
I was exhausted, not thinking straight, and casinos in Elko do not allow overnight parking. I was confused, so I decided to drive an hour along 225 and sleep on the gravel road on the way to Jarbidge (my first quest is to catch a Bull Trout in the Jarbidge River in Nevada).
I made it 52 miles along highway 225 under the moonlight. On the road to Jarbidge I decided to risk being mugged or worse by pulling into a turnout and going to bed. Obviously I was worried for my life as I got up at 7:30 AM, a very unusual time for me.
Day 2 on the road to Jarbidge, and even more stupidity.
Tight Lines!
How does your air filter look?
I put a new one in a month ago. Had O’Reillys check and delete the codes. Light has been off since!!!!
Shane,
I have a lot of catching up to do and liking it. Trust the tails get better, they always do. Best to your van.
