I have to say that the bait fishermen here at Centennial Park in Soldotna know how to make waiting for a bite quite enjoyable. Note the tent. Under it are tables filled with food, and everyone has a nice chair to sit in, to eat while waiting for a fish to bite their soaking roe.
I got here at 1:00 PM, and not fish were on stringers or caught for an hour. I entered the van for a wonderful two hour nap. Upon wakening, not much had changed. I surfed the Internet and watched people watching their poles. No spots opened up until dark, so I called it a day, although a beautiful one.
Two days of clear weather. I wonder what is happening at Anchor River. The Alaska DFG fish counts for Coho on the Anchor has not been updated since 9/1. When I was down there 4 or 5 days ago, Brian at the Anchor River Fly Shop stated he wasn’t doing any Coho trips, so the Coho run may be over. What about Cooper Landing? And the Parks Highway. Maybe it is again with the road trip hoping for finding fish. Oh well.
