Sleeping in and puttering all day. As Always. During the day the fishing area at Centennial Park in Soldotna is taken up by bait fishermen, with rods spaced anywhere from 10 to 25 feet away. Regardless, I would not be able to get in to do a Kenai Flip until spaces open up in the evening.
Late in the evening, one guy was fishing in front of me (I’m in the van watching), using a Russian River coho fly, a dry line, and a single large bb shot weight. He landed 5 pink salmon in an hour. I would be happy catching pink salmon as I haven’t hooked a fish since my grayling adventures. I am too tired and too lazy and it is getting too dark to put my gear on and join him. I hope I’m not making a mistake.
