I made it down to Anchor Point today, and dropped into the Anchor Point Fly Shop. Brian, the manager? owner?, was geared up with a buddy and just about to leave to hunt Steelhead. I told him that I was ready to go out for Silvers this evening when high tide was at 11 PM. I bid them farewell and then drove down to Homer, as I had five hours before needing to get into the river. I puttered around until 8 PM, and started getting ready to fish. However, I double checked the tides and OOPS, high tide was at 4:30, and not 11 PM. I goofed up and lost a day of fishing. Of course Brian and his friend were going out when I showed up. High tide was only 60 to 90 minutes away. AArrgghh.
A day of fishing squandered. But, that’s what happens when you are free rolling on the road.
