Time to Leave Tenderfoot Campground. I never thought to see if Summit Lake Lodge rented boats. This is a great lake for fishing, and even better with a boat. As it is raining, I can spend the night here (paid for), or at Quartz Creek Campground (paid for), or drive to Soldotna and sleep in the Fred Meyer parking lot (free), and save an hour’s drive for tomorrow.
So, Fred Meyer parking lot it is. The rain stopped and the skies were magical. I tried my best to photograph them on my way to Soldotna. Of course, the most beautiful spot what when I was in a convoy going 65 mph and nowhere to pull over. Bummer.
Tomorrow I’ll head south to meet up with silver salmon, for a couple of weeks. Then maybe north for grayling, and then work my way back home. September is prime time for lake fishing up here, and I would love to catch and cook a Shefish. Evidently they taste like lobster.
I’ve chosen a set of rivers that have walkable shores along most of their runs. After 3 weeks I should be able to fish for a couple of hours per day. For Silver Salmon.
Tight Lines!
