I checked out of my motel at 11:00, getting my full money’s worth. I made an appointment in Eagle River for a tire rotation and rebalancing at 3:00. My goals for the day are to purchase a replacement chair, an end table, get the tire rotation done, and then drive two hours down to the Russian River to Fish.
First, I was sticker shocked at the prices of folding chairs, and second, most of the chairs available don’t fold, then collapse into a mass of legs to create the equivalent of a bagged tent. Most of the prices were 70 to 100+ dollars. I found a folding chair for 15 and a folding side table for 15 at Cabela’s / Bass Pro Shop. I had a chance to look at their fish tank to see what I’ve been missing. The folding side table was great, but the folding chair wasn’t the type I want. My old chair fit into a 4 inch space between my bed and the rear doors of the van. I was frustrated that all of the chairs at the Bass Pro Shop folded to a equivalent of a stored tent: round and long.
After some more research REI had some folding chairs, the cheapest 79 dollars. Oh well. I drove to REI and spent 30 minutes debating with myself which model to get. I grabbed the cheapest chair they had and entered into the endless line at REI. I was shocked to find that the chair was on sale at only 49 dollars, and that it had a backpack capability, useful for resting at streams. Yay for me.
I drove 2+ hours back to Coopers Landing, and was to exhausted to consider fishing. So, Phase 3, fishing every day, has been postponed. I still have lots of time. Yay for me.
