I got up early for me, and drove more than an hour to the city of Hope. A side road at Hope sent me to the upper section of the Resurrection Creek (river). The old me would notice that no fish were evident, but the new me knew that it would be silly not to at least try to find fish in the creek/river. My Internet research stated that Pink Salmon like to hold up in pools. No pools were evident so I tried swinging a pink fly through the riffles. No Luck.
I then drove down into the town of Hope, near the mouth of the Resurrection River. Again, I watched, and nobody came in with fish, and nobody was catching while I was observing. I drove back to the Russian River and ended up going back into the fly shop. I decided, the hell with it. Since I’ll probably have to get a job to pay off this trip, I’ve booked a solo guide trip for tomorrow. I will catch fish. Fish will be photographed with me. I will pick the brains of the guide about the next 6 weeks of fishing in the area.
So, the next post will have fish pics. I promise. And I’ll be better prepared for fishing the Kenai in the upcoming weeks.
