After a couple of days not driving for hours and not filling up twice a day, I’m back on the road. I was wrong. My trip is not 700 miles, but 7 hours. I headed down the Parks Highway running towards beautiful scenery.
But, even more beautiful that an hour or two out of Fairbanks, creeks were clear, CLEAR. That means that the rivers will not be getting more mud and that they can eventually clear back up. After my next extended camping trip, I’ll head back up the Parks Highway and fish. Actually Fish!
One cannot have too much beauty when on the road, although Alaska tries. I made it to a ten dollar a night campground that doesn’t kick people out until 2 PM. I get to sleep in, roll over, and take a nap. My idea of traveling.
The pink flowers ALL along the highway edges in Alaska are Fireweed, a native plant. I thought they would be like “Cal Tran Clover” that is spread along the edges of roads in California. But, no, these apparently are naturally occurring, and remind me of Delphinium flowers. They are very beautiful weeds.
I’ll be in Anchorage tomorrow, and then off to an extended camp stay, with fish, I hope.
Tight Lines!
