Two days of running around. Yesterday, I dropped the van off to check the stater battery and install a new master air flow thingiiee. The battery was 5 years old and cranking out 240 Amps instead of it’s rated 700 Amps. Tracy, at Tracy’s Auto Repair ordered a 900 Amp battery that had a 3 year full replacement warranty, as it was only $20 more that the one he had in stock that only had a one year limited warranty. Nice to have a great mechanic looking out for you.
So, yesterday I ran into Redding for a couple things that couldn’t be mailed at this late date. I picked up fly line backing, 30 pound for Salmon (The Fly Shop), Bachelor Buttons for my Merino Wool pants, colored sharpies, and a thread / needle kit for the road (Michael’s), triple-A batteries for the glue cure lamps, and some rainbow sparkle embroidery floss (JoAnn Fabrics).
On the way over yesterday, I took mile markers for areas along 299 that had wide bike lanes for me to practice on climbing hills and gaining mileage next year, on my bicycle. And then, I picked up my van to find that the magnetic tape all fell off during the day. Aarrgh
So, Today. I spent an hour clearing my deck as I promised Louise, co-owner of the marina and park, that I would clear the piles of “stuff” I had blocking movement on my deck. And, I found the two books in the picture above. Sadly, the fishing book covers parts of BC I will not be traveling through. Getting bored, I drove the two hour round trip again to Redding, to pick up double-sided Gorilla Tape and a box cutter, as I have at least 6 already, none of which I can find.
Back home, put 90 minutes on the deck this evening and less than an hour tomorrow to finish clearing the deck, an hour or so to “try to fix” the magnetic bug screen. I’ll have three days to clean up my living space, pack the final stuff into the van, and take off next Wednesday morning.
First Stop heading North will be somewhere on the Upper Sacramento River (and I hope the flows are gentler than in the picture above).
It really is happening.
