My legs, back, and arms are cramping after I became a contortionist today to install a light, fill all the empty places with fly tying materials, all without throwing my back out. The temperature was 85 F outside the van, but I was able to work all day thanks to an old Fantastic Fan blowing air towards me. I got a lot done today.
I finished both the front and rear blackout curtains today. They are not light proof for stealth camping, as my new light installed today will send slivers through small openings. However, they are for regular camping to keep me from being seen as I’m sleeping or working in the bed area. But, when they are open, a whole new camping experience is displayed.
Stocked shelves and nets on the right, water containers and tools in the middle, and rods, tying materials, and clothes along the drivers side of the bed. Tools, food, and seldom used fly tying materials are under the bed. I just have to add a few fishing accessories inside to start my shake down sessions fishing the Upper Sacramento and McCloud rivers next week.
Today was such a productive day that I spent the cool evening hours at my second attempt a making a bug screen for the large van opening. Instead of individual magnets I used magnetic tape to seal the vertical opening and the bottoms. It needs some work, especially as the length is too long and causes a serpentine vertical spine instead of a smooth seam. I still have a week before I hit the road, and three plus months to fine tune it. Almost there.
