I got out today for two hours. I was skunked: Not even one take. I trolled up to the rock pile and back, only to be deterred by a flow sending clumps of grass downstream like hidden mines in Minesweeper. I ended up fishing an indicator with a zebra midge and a Higa’s SOS nymph as the point.
Today was a gorgeous December day. Clear, just enough wind to ripple the water, and warm enough that my hands didn’t freeze and a light coat was warm enough to be active.
However, at 3:30 I saw the best fisherman at the lake zoom downstream, and noticed his boat in the 10 mile lake as I headed in for soda at the gas station. So, weather permitting I’ll head to 10 mile tomorrow and work my way back up to the marina. Should be great fun regardless of the fishing.
