Normally I would crop out or photoshop out the white buoy in the picture above. However, it is a landmark for the island across from Pine Cove Marina. The area I’ve fished the last several weeks is around the point at the right of the screen.
The weather is 75 degrees all week with no wind and glass like conditions. I got out on the lake for a couple of hours today. Landed a 15 inch trout below the island above, and a 16 incher from the middle of the reach above the island. I used PT nymphs under an indicator. There was a hatch on but few fish were rising. Two other fishermen told me that they saw a school of fish bigger than they have ever seen swimming by them. Perhaps the fish are already forming up for their winter activities.
Regardless, this place is beautiful and now is the time to be here as one will not melt under the sun. Hope to see you on the water.
