My new boat has been completed, almost. All I need to add is an umbrella for sun shade. She is a beauty. She has anchors and anchor locks fore and aft (boat talk lol). My feet fell asleep the first two times I used her so the middle seat now has a 7 inch extension that works wonderfully for me. The center bench has new wood and all the seats have been painted, the same for the transom.
All hardware, except for the transom (for now), is stainless steel. The 110 amp-hr AGM battery is inside a Minn Kota battery box, equipped with circuit breakers as needed. The 5 hp Honda motor, as well as the battery box, are chained with 3/8 inch case hardened steel chain and sealed with a case hardened lock. These precautions don’t make the battery and motor thief proof, but it will be a lot harder to steal these than my new Honda 5 hp that got stolen off my boat last year.
Finally, the orange on the left in the picture is a rope / stair emergency ladder in case I fall in. There is no way I could pull myself back into the boat without it. As the water in Lewiston has been running around 48 degrees, it is dangerously cold to fall into.
I had to put cinder blocks in the bow because the bow came up too high when I was at full throttle. Everything seems to be working great so far. Now, time to refurbish the trailer that came with the boat.
Tight Lines!
