Okay. I’m getting cocky about feeling better. I left Yakski BBQ quickly into the street. The temperature difference isn’t much but I hyperventilated….appears that I have to remember I’m not 20 and have to gradually move into different environments.
Not too exciting a day..mostly rest and research for the rest of the trip. But since blogs need pictures…my new order at Yakski BBQ: 3 pork skewers, 1 chicken breast, 2 beers, 221 Pesos about $5 at the current exchange rate.
Trip to Moalboal
I am going to be spending 4 nights at the Turtle Bay Dive Resort outside Moalboal, starting Sunday night. The biggest choice now is how I get there. There is slow and cheap or fast and expensive. The options are:
Public air conditioned bus. 3.5 hours but costs only about 150 P ($3.50)
Taxi: I have had 2 taxi drivers offer me rides. Both want 2500 P ($55.55). The first one is a hustler trying to get me to spend the day down there seeing the sights. The second one seems nicer. The trip takes only 2 hours that way (and I can probably get him to stop for photo ops if I see any). I’m okay with 2500P if it includes the tip (My offer is 2000 P with a 500 P tip)…same thing.
So….tomorrow is the decision. I’m leaning towards the expensive taxi for comfort, speed, and flexibility. Also, with the money to get over here…..what the big deal dude?
Poker
I spent 4 hours online and on the phone today to try to find poker here in Cebu. Websites, names, phone numbers, etc., are not updated very often.
There are two poker rooms available, and one of them actually answered the phone. It was the sketchy looking place I drove by two days ago. I’ll call tomorrow to see if tables are active and if so, I’ll give it a try.
Friday Night Party
It is Friday night and I want to get out and see the night life. I’m not ready for Mango Square (the red light district) and some bars attached to the giant Ayala Mall look interesting. An hour of research and I picked likely prospects, and then…..and then…..and then…..
My heart went into Afib. IT is not dangerous when on medication (which I am). However, for me, it knocks the hell out of me….heart rate 130, dizzyness, lack of breath / hyperventilation. I usually just go to sleep when it happens. So, I have to listen to my body and stay in the hotel, watching HBO and Cinemax. Part of going solo is being aware of your surroundings and being careful. And, tomorrow is SATURDAY night LOL.
Since a blog posting needs at least two pictures imho….here is a picture of a family resting in the heat just outside the Cebu Zoo
See you soon
